Most people think of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder as a childhood
affliction that causes restlessness and impulsive behavior that eventually
goes away. This isn't necessarily so.
"The biggest impact it had on my life was in my working life because
it made it very difficult to be organized to start at work and finish tasks,
to complete projects on time," said Phyllis Goldman, an ADD patient.
Goldman thought ADD was just a kid problem. In fact, she's one of an estimated
8 million American adults with ADD, and most don't know it.
"About 60 percent of the time kids with ADHD go on to be adults with
ADHD," according to Dr. Lenard Adler of the NYU School of Medicine.
